~W 2 p4cE 498 <br />with D & A Companies Construction Company (formerly Locklear Construction) for the above <br />mentioned project. The following bids were presented for consideration: <br />0 <br />Johnston-Lee-Harnett Community Action $3,645 <br />Smithfield, NC <br />Durden Home Improvements $3,500 <br />St. Pauls, NC <br />D & A Complete Construction $3,825 <br />Shannon, NC <br />Mrs. Kennedy stated that Durden Home Improvements was the low bidder for this project. Mr. <br />Durden accepted the job, but never committed to a start date. After several attempts by phone <br />and an unclaimed certified letter, it was decided to re-evaluate the bids received in order to <br />award a contract. Johnston-Lee-Harnett Community Action was the next lowest bidder, but the <br />contractor is currently tied up with the Neadella Wilson project. Due to time constraints with the <br />grant deadline, Mrs. Kennedy and Ms. Lancaster recommended the third bidder in line which is <br />D & A Complete Construction. After some discussion, Commissioner Adams moved to approve <br />the bid and contract from D & A Complete Construction at $3,825, a copy of which is attached to <br />these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Brown, Hincks, Lemmond, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />• Absent: Paschal <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered bids for the completion of Phase I at Tramway Road Park. <br />Assistant County Manager Kenny Cole presented the following bids to the Board for <br />consideration: <br />Backstops: <br />Hall Fence Company No Bid <br />Sanford, NC <br />Fence Builders, Inc. $25,400 <br />Winston Salem, NC <br />Landscaping: <br />Cole Brothers Landscaping No Bid <br />Sanford, NC <br />Carolina Lawns $52,340 <br />Sanford, NC <br />Sanford Turf & Irrigation No Bid <br />0 Sanford, NC <br />5 <br />
