Upon a vote, the results were <br />as follows: <br />Ave: Adams, Brown, Hincks, Lemmond, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Pascal <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Adams asked that the Board revisit the policy concerning <br />economic incentives at the Jul), 25, 2005 meeting. <br />The Board considered the FY 2005-06 budget ordinance for fire departments. <br />This matter was deferred from the June 6, 2005 meeting until a tax rate could be <br />calculated for each fire department. County Manager David Smitherman told the Board <br />that this proposal was basically the same proposal submitted at the June 6`h meeting <br />except the tax rates have been adjusted, but the amounts are equal to satisfy the requests <br />of each volunteer fire department. Mr. Smitherman stated that sufficient amounts have <br />been included for the Carolina Trace, Deep River and Cape Fear departments that <br />requested staffing positions. After some discussion, Commissioner Brown moved to <br />accept the County Manager's recommendation for the FY 2005-06 fire department <br />budget and approve the request from the districts that requested employees, not to exceed <br />20-hours per week for one-year upon approval of each departments board of directors, a <br />copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Brown, Hincks, Lemmond. and Reives <br />Nay: Adams and Stevens <br />Absent: Paschal <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Mrs. Joni Martin from Progressive Contracting discussed with the Board various <br />community workshop on quality growth for Sanford-Lee County that will be held <br />beginning August 30' - October 11, 2005. Mrs. Martin outlined the following meetings <br />that will be held: <br />• August 30, 2005 The Dollars and Sense of Preserving Community <br />Character <br />• September 13, 2005 Downtown's Economic Impact Today <br />• September 27, 2005 Concord Story - Panel Discussion <br />• October 11, 2005 Results - Where do we go from here? <br />All meetings will be held at 8:00 a.m. at the Temple Theatre. <br />4 <br />
