C 461r, <br />0A '_V 'A <br />Commissioner Adams moved to approve the consent agenda as printed which <br />consisted of the following items: <br />• Tax Releases and Refunds for May 2005 (copy attached) <br />• Program Agreement and Annual Plan for Juvenile Crime Prevention <br />Funds <br />• Budget amendment # 06/20/05/#22 (copy attached) <br />• Donation of paddle boat for San-Lee Park valued at $450.00 <br />• Schedule of fees and charges for Parks and Recreation programs (copy <br />attached) <br />• Resolution for reduction in force of jail kitchen employees (copy <br />attached) <br />• Approval for Health Department to apply for $5,000 education dental <br />grant <br />• Acceptance of $3,000 donation to renovate the Jonesboro Library <br />• Outreach Coordinator Grant for Senior Services through the North <br />Carolina Department of Health and Human Services <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Ave: Adams, Brown, Hineks, Lemmond, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Paschal <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Senior Services Director Debbie Davidson told the Board that the Lee County <br />Enrichment Center had recently been awarded the status of Senior Center of Excellence <br />by the North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services. Centers of Excellence <br />provide exemplary services and opportunities to their communities and serve as mentors <br />and models to developing centers. Certification is a voluntary process, and its purpose is <br />to strengthen the capacity of senior centers by providing a set of measurable indicators of <br />best practice. The benefits provide seniors and their families with a voice in program <br />development, enhanced performance of center staff, a greater variety of activities and <br />services, optimum use of resources, the prestige of having a certified center, increased <br />consumer satisfaction, and the potential for receiving additional grant funds. The Board <br />commended the Lee County Enrichment Center on their award. <br />The Board considered a matter from the Sheriffs Office where Sheriff Billy <br />Bryant was asking that the Grade and classification of a Data Entry Specialist in his <br />office be upgraded from Grade 62 Step 9 to Grade 63 Step 9, and reclassified to <br />Jailer/Data Entry Specialist/Daytime Supervisor. This matter had been discussed at the <br />June 6, 2005 meeting and action was deferred to the June 20°i meeting so additional <br />information could be obtained from the Human Resource Director. Sheriff Bryant told <br />the Board that due to a recent safety study of the Lee County Jail; it was recommended <br />that two people be in the control room at all times to monitor inmates.
