! it 4. <br />s ~ 1 ` r i. <br />that Ms. Norma;Wr ight, Guidance Counselor, East Junior High, be appointed in <br />lieu of Reverend Ed Gunter, and that Mr, Robby Knight, Current Student Govern- <br />ment President, be appointed in lieu of Mr, David Isenhour, andthe. appointment <br />of the foregoing persons were on motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, <br />seconded by Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, which motion was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />The-Lee County Board of Education invited the Board to a luncheon <br />meeting on Thursday, February l st at 12:30 p, m., of the F. L. Knight School. <br />The Chairman announced that the Central Carolina Technical Institute <br />Board would be.inviting the Commissioners, to a-meetirig`on January 31st. <br />It was reported that the Airport Commission had adopted a set of <br />rules of conduct for consideration by,the Board and these would be disseminated <br />to the Board.fortheir study. <br />A letter from Commissioner Neil Fleming of Alamance County, <br />was read to the Board,. Which advocated equal treatment for all citizens. <br />A letter from Mr.' Donald Buie, concerning the Brick Festival, <br />to be held in Lee County in the month of May, was read to the Board. ' The Board <br />resolved to support the Chamber of Commerce -in this endeavor. <br />A letter from the Department of Human Resourceswa.s'read to the' <br />Board concerning a workshop for the nursing home advisory committee, , <br />The sum of $800.00 was appropriated from the unappropriated <br />surplus;in.the General Fund to fund-the. CETA program being carried out with the <br />Council on Aging through March. , Upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, <br />seconded by Commissioner Lila P," Neilsen, which resolution was adopted upon a,roll <br />call vote in which Commissioners Funderburke, _ Nielsen,-Rhyne, Wickerand Harmon <br />all voted for it and no one voted against it.. <br />Chairman Harmon recognized Miss Becky Sue Brown, who is <br />currently a student.at'Meredith College who had observed and attended the meeting <br />of the Commissioners in connection with.one of her courses of study. <br />There being no further business to come before 'the meeting, it was <br />adjourned;, sine die. <br />y <br />HAIRMAN <br />CLERK' <br />;A` <br />
