B~.r 9 PALO J$A <br />road to the Lemon Springs Ruritan Club. The District Engineer, Mr. Fred <br />Beck, reported that improvements on old U. S. Highway 421 from its inter- <br />section with N. C. Highway 87, pass the Nash Street intersection, had been <br />funded for a year or more but that the Highway Department had encountered <br />right of way problems with the City of Sanford, about moving utility lines. <br />Chairman Harmon asked Commissioner Rhyne, the roads commissioner, to <br />work with the State Highway Commission and the City of Sanford to try to <br />obtain right of ways along this route. <br />Mr. Henry Jordan, of the Department of Transportation, re- <br />quested a date for a public hearing with the Department of Transportation, and <br />the date was set for March 19, 1979, at 7:30 o'clock p. m. Mrs. Hollers announc- <br />ed that a division wide public hearing where requests for primary roads and urban <br />funds will be aired, would be held on June 6, 1979, at the Town Hall in Southern <br />Pines, North Carolina. <br />There being no further business to come before the meeting, it <br />was adjourned. <br />CLERK <br />
