'30;( aid F GE <br />• Minutes of the May 9, 2005 special budget work session <br />• Tax Releases and Refunds for April 2005 (copy attached) <br />• Ordinance to allow the County Manager to dispose of personal property <br />valued less than $5,000 (copy attached) <br />• Budget amendment #05/16/05/#19 (copy attached) <br />• Approval to ),waive failure to make payments for county property by Ms. <br />Tara Wescott <br />• Resolution of appreciation to the Veterans of Foreign War Stanley <br />McLeod Post #5631 (copy attached) <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Brown, Hincks, Lemmond, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Paschal <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board discussed a letter from the Sheriffs Department concerning the new <br />cell phone policy. County Manager David Smitherman addressed each concern from the <br />Sheriffs Department and stated that he would respond to the request in writing. No <br />action was taken on the matter. <br />Chairman Flincks asked members of the Finance Committee to consider a <br />committee meeting to discuss recommendations for the upcoming budget. Finance <br />Committee members Chad Adams, Herb Hincks, and Robert Reives agreed to meet at <br />8:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2005, in the County Manager's Conference Room with the <br />County Manager and Finance Director. <br />County Manager David Smitherman told the Board that the State has cut funds for <br />the Criminal Justice Partnership Program and therefore Lee County may not implement <br />the program for FY 2005-06 as proposed. <br />Commissioner Adams updated the Board on a meeting he attended on May 13, <br />2005, concerning grant awards for the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF). Lee <br />County had submitted a grant request for $500,000 over a two-year period for Phase II of <br />the Tramway Road Park project that was not funded at this time. Additional grants will <br />be awarded in July and it is hoped that Lee County will obtain funding at that time to <br />assist with the project. Chairman Hincks ask that County Manager David Smitherman, <br />along with Commissioners Adams, Brown, and Stevens meet and discuss a plan of action <br />for the July award of funds. School and Parks and Recreation representatives will also be <br />contacted for input. No action was taken on the matter. <br />Commissioner Stevens moved to go into closed session per G.S. 143-318.11(a) <br />(5) concerning negotiation of the price and terms of a contract concerning the acquisition <br />1) <br />
