3 <br /> <br />e6V 9 nGt 2 <br />Mr. John Eaton, from Lee Industries, Inc., appeared before the <br />Board and presented a proposal for the establishment of a Human Services Trans- <br />portation Advisory Committee. The committee would survey the County's current <br />transportation resources, determine itsneeds, and develop a plan which would foster <br />inter-agencies coordination of transportation services. Commissioner Wicker <br />questioned the advisability of so many County employees serving on such a <br />commission and the matter was discussed at length. Commissioner Nielsen <br />moved that the Board create the Lee County Human Services Transportation <br />Advisory Committee and appoint as members thereof: <br />Mr. Jim Coates, of the Department of Social Services <br />Mrs. Reggie Durham, of the Council on Aging <br />Mrs. Alice Griffin, of the RSVP Program <br />Mrs. Evelyn Williams, of the Mental Health Center <br />Ms. Charlene Dilson, of the Health Department <br />Mrs. Judy K. Norman, of the Oakhaven Rest Home <br />Mr. John Eaton, of Lee Industries, Inc. <br />Ms. Renilla Richie, of the Parks and Recreation Department <br />Mrs. Grace Hodges, of Central Carolina Technical Institute <br />Mr. Ernest Atkinson, of the Lee County School Administrative Unit <br />Mrs. Iva Nicholson, of the Children's Center <br />and that such members serve at the pleasure of the Board of Commissioners. <br />Commissioner Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />The press release announcing the visit of Mr. Daniel Liu, Thorough- <br />fare Planner of the North Carolina Department of Transportation, on March 7, <br />1979, to discuss the proposed Sanford Thoroughfare Plan, was read to the Board. <br />Mr. Steve Foster, Management Consultant with the Triangle J Council <br />of Governments, appeared before the Board and reviewed the work program of that <br />organization. <br />The matter of the hearing to be afforded Mrs. Sarah Mawyer, was <br />discussed and it was resolved to conduct the hearing on the first Monday in April, <br />at 7 o'clock p, m., and that the Department of Social Services would present its <br />evidence first, and that the hearing would be held in a closed session. <br />The report of Mr. Hugh Brewer, Safety Officer, concerning the San- <br />Lee Park jeep, was presented to the Board. Commissioner Wicker moved that the <br />Parks and Recreation Commission be advised not to use the vehicle and to return it <br />to Civil Preparedness, who originally acquired the vehicle for County use. <br />The draft of a Solid Waste Ordinance was presented and is being <br />reviewed by the County Attorney. <br />Mrs. Beatrice Fields, Chairman of Lee County Personnel Board, <br />appeared before the Board and presented a report of that Board which recommended <br />that the County Commissioners adopt a new classification and pay plan. <br />Mr. Bob Brinkley from the State Personnel Office, who had the <br />responsibility for studying,Lee County's plan, was invited to appear before the <br />Board on April 2, 1979, to review the plan. <br />Mrs. Beatrice Fields, Finance Officer, presented the following <br />requirements for budget amendments for consideration by the Board: <br />
