BOX 9 Kf 390 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, March 5, 1979 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 o'clock a. m., on Monday, <br />March 5, 1979, in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County <br />Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were <br />Commissioners Jack D. Funderburke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, Clyde J. <br />Rhyne, and Gordon A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. <br />Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Reverend Marion Currie, Pastor of <br />Buffalo Presbyterian Church. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on Monday, February 19, <br />1979, were amended and, as amended, were approved and ordered recorded, <br />upon motion of Commissioner Rhyne, seconded by Commissioner Nielsen, and <br />unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne reported on his recommendations as <br />to roads which need work. He reported that in his opinion the following roads <br />qualified in the order listed based upon housing and condition of road, namely: <br />1 st - S. R. No. 1151, known as H. E. Cameron Road; 2nd - S. R. No. 1322, known <br />as Tempting Church Road; 3rd - S. R. No. 1183, known as Blakeley Road; 4th - <br />S. R. No, 1164, known as I. J. McNeil Road; 5th - S. R. 1163, known as South <br />Chicken Road; 6th - S. R. Nos. 1503 and 1504, known as Hall Roads, A lady who <br />lived on Tempting Church Road appeared and asked consideration for improving <br />that road. She was invited to attend the meeting on March 19, 1979, when Depart- <br />ment of Transportation personnel would be present. Mrs. Nora Ryant also appeared <br />and asked the Board to do what it could to have the Department of Transportation <br />improve the maintenance on Secondary Road No. 1206. <br />The Board next reviewed the monthly bills as listed by the Finance <br />Officer. Several purchase orders were examined and discussed. Commissioner <br />Clyde J. Rhyne moved that the monthly bills be approved for payment, Commiss- <br />ioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted, <br />Mr, James <br />Coates, Director <br />of Social Services, appeared <br />before the <br />Board and requested some <br />intra-fund transfers.
