H <br />Lw,1 tU <br />Aye: Adams, Brown, Hincks, Lemmond, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board heard a report from Tammy Yarborough, Director of HAVEN <br />concerning funding requirements for her organization. Ms. Yarborough told the Board <br />that HAVEN had recently celebrated its 20th anniversary in Lee County and has served <br />18,000 men, women and children. She further stated that $41,000 in funding from the <br />Governors Crime Commission had recently been cut which will cause the weekend <br />program to be cut, reducing the staffto:f6ur individuals. Ms. Yarborough was asking the <br />County for financial assistance at this time in addition to a recent $20,000 request <br />submitted for the 2005-06 budget. After some discussion. Commissioner Lemmond <br />moved that a letter of support be sent to the Governor and Crime Control and Public <br />Safety asking that financial assistance be restored to HAVEN, and that a revised letter of <br />assistance be forwarded to the County Manager for budget purposes. Upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Brown, Hincks, Lemmond, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered meeting dates for April 2005. Chairman Hincks stated that <br />the April meeting would be held on Monday, April I It 2005, time to be considered <br />depending on the agenda. A joint meeting with the Board of Education will be held at <br />5:00 p.m. that same day. <br />Commissioner Adams discussed countywide law enforcement with the Board and <br />voiced his support for exploring the idea. Commissioner Adams stated that he wasn't <br />advocating immediate implementation but only discussion as to whether the idea is <br />feasible. After some discussion, Commissioner Adams moved that the Interlocal <br />Committee made up of Chairman Hincks, and Commissioners Lemmond and Reives <br />work with the County Manager to see what it might cost to have a study completed on <br />countywide law= enforcement. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Brown, Hincks, Lemmond, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Public Works Director Kenny Cole updated the Board on a break-in at the Clerk <br />of Courts office over the weekend. Mr. Cole stated that he was working on the <br />installation of a security system for that office. <br />5 <br />
