0 EM( .0 HGF $2 <br />.rR <br />_'Ott <br />04e Lee Tountu Naarb ❑f Tammissiuners <br />+".~esalutinn <br />RESOLUTION HONORING I HE MEMORY OF <br />JAMES `JIM' DALTON GARNER, 1R. <br />WHEREAS Jim Garner unselfishh dedicated over 21 years of service to Lee Count with great distinction <br />and success, passed away on February 4, 2005: and <br />WI4FREAS. Jim Gannar enriched the Lee County community by his public services beginning as a Social <br />Worker Trainee in 1983, was selected Employee of the Year in 1990, was appointed Adult Services Supervisor in 1991 <br />and in 1992 took on the additional responsibilities of Child Support Supervisor, and <br />Will ,UAS, Jim Garner established the "Community Social Services Assistant" program and began the <br />"Community Alternative Program for Disabled Adults" in Lee County; and <br />WHEREAS, Jim Garner worked with organizations ranging from Emergency Management, Lee County MIS <br />Department, and numerous colleges and universities within North Carolina; and <br />WHEREAS- Jim Garner supervised the JOY Program and volunteer services until other agencies assumed <br />the roles of coordination for these programs; and <br />WHEREAS, Jim Garner co-founded "The Fuel Fund for the Elderly and Disabled" program, which is <br />privately funded from businesses, organizations and individuals; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lee County Board of Commissioners hereby honors the <br />memory of James "Jim" Gamer for a life of outstanding service, contribution, and exemplary leadership by amending <br />the name Fuel Fund for the Elderly and Disabled to The Jim Garner Fuel Fund for the Elderly and Disabled as <br />approved by the Lee County Department of Social Services Board on February 15, 2005. <br />13E IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the March 21, 2005, minutes of the Lee <br />County Board of Commissioners as a permanent record of the achievement f an espect for one of Lee County's <br />finest employees, and that the original be presented to the family of Jam "Jim' G merith sincere sy ny and <br />appreciation. <br />A'IJESl Herbert-A.
