0 0 <br />coos 20 F,cF 258 <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />FEBRUARY 14, 2005 <br />The special meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State <br />of North Carolina, convened at 12:00 noon at La Dolee Vita Pizzeria. 143 Charlotte <br />Avenue, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present were Robert H. Brown, <br />Herbert A. Hincks, Jerry M. Lemmond, Nathan E. Paschal, and Amy L. Stevens. <br />Commissioners W. Chad Adams and Robert T. Reives were absent. Staff members <br />present included County Manager David M. Smitherman and Clerk to the Board Gaynell <br />M. Lee. <br />Representative John Sauls and Senator Bob Atwater were also present for the <br />meeting. <br />The purpose of the informal meeting was to discuss legislatives issues pertaining <br />to the county, especially matters concerning Medicaid relief for counties. Representative <br />Sauls told Board members that there are currently at lest two bills in the General <br />Assembly that reduce the burden on the counties. Mr. Sauls state that one bill caps <br />spending next year at the current level, and then reduce spending by 3% for each of the <br />five subsequent years. No action was taken on any matters. <br />It was decided to hold another work session with Representative Sauls and <br />Senator Atwater on a bimonthly basis with the next meeting to be held sometime in April. <br />4- <br />HA.
