Pa 416 <br />MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br />The meeting was adjourned until Monday, April 16, 1979, at 7:30 <br />o'clock p. m.,. in the Commissioners Room of the County Office Building, 200 <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />1, 1 J, I <br />Tuesday, April 10, 1979 <br />The Adjourned Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br />for the County of Lee, convened in the Commissioners Room, County Office <br />Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 1 o'clock p, m., in <br />keeping with the motion of adjournment. <br />Those present for the meeting were Commissioners Jack D. <br />Funderburke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, Clyde J. Rhyne and Gordon A. <br />Wicker. <br />Chairman X. S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />Commissioner Rhyne moved that the Executive Session be closed <br />and the Commissioners go into public session to hear matters pertaining to the <br />Lee County Department of Social Services budget. Commissioner Funderburke <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Director <br />James Coats appeared along with Mr, Paul R. Perruzzi. Mr, Perruzzi explained <br />the guide linesissued pertaining to figuring medicare costs. Mr. Perruzzi said the <br />change in the allocation between State and local funds made in the last Legislative <br />session and the high percentage of Lee County residents who received inter- <br />mediate or skilled nursing care rather than regular nursing home care made the <br />costs for Lee County higher than for some counties. <br />Following this presentation, Commissioner Rhyne moved that the <br />Board go into Executive Session for the purpose of hearing the personnel matter <br />pertaining to the dismissal of Mrs. Sara O. Mawyer, employee of the Lee County <br />Department of Social Services. Commissioner Nielsen seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mrs. Mawyer and her counsel, Mr. George McDermott, joined the <br />meeting and Mr. Coats remained. The Board heard Mr. Coats as a witness and <br />following his testimony and cross examination, the taking of testimony was con- <br />cluded. Mr. McDermott presented a closing argument on behalf of his client and <br />Mr. Coats summarized on behalf of the Department of Social Services. Following <br />the arguments, the Board resolved to close the hearing in the Executive Session, <br />and discussed the testimony and evidence which had been presented. <br />Pattie W.
