to MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, May 7, 1979 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 o'clock a. m. , on Monday, May 7, 1979, in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were Commissioners Jack D. Funderburke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, Clyde J. Rhyne and Gordon A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following business was transacted: The meeting was opened with prayer given by Reverend Harold Leatherman, Pastor of the St. Luke United Methodist Church in Sanford, North Carolina. The minutes of the regular meeting on April 2, 1979, the adjourned regular meeting on April 2, 1979, the adjourned regular meeting on April 5, 1979, the adjournedregular meeting on April 6, 1979, the adjourned regular meeting on April 9, 1979, the adjourned regular meeting on April 10, 1979, the adjourned regular meeting on April 16, 1979, the adjourned regular meeting on April 17, 1979, the regular meeting on April 17, 1979, and the adjourned regular meeting on April 23, 1979, were approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner Rhyne, which motion was duly seconded by Commiss ioner Nielsen and upon a vote was unanimously adopted. A revised resolution incorporating theaction taken by the Board in setting forth the priority list of roads scheduled for improvement was presented to the Board. Commissioner Rhyne moved that the resolution be adopted and cert- ified by the Chairman and the Clerk to the Department of Transportation. A copy of the resolution is attached and by this reference made a part hereof. Commiss- ioner Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. A petition seeking the paving of Harward Drive (Secondary Road No. 1248), was presented to the Board. Commissioner Rhyne moved that the petition be approved and that the following resolution be adopted: WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee has investigated the condition of the above described road which is now a part of the system of roads maintained by the State Highway Commission, and which is indicated in red on the attached map; and WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the services rendered by said road and the traffic demands of said county, it is deemed necessary that said road be im- proved in order to better serve the interests of the people of this county.
