to <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, May 7, 1979 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 o'clock a. m. , on <br />Monday, May 7, 1979, in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the <br />County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. <br />Those present were Commissioners Jack D. Funderburke, K. S. <br />Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, Clyde J. Rhyne and Gordon A. Wicker. None of the <br />Commissioners were absent. <br />Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The meeting was opened with prayer given by Reverend Harold <br />Leatherman, Pastor of the St. Luke United Methodist Church in Sanford, North <br />Carolina. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting on April 2, 1979, the adjourned <br />regular meeting on April 2, 1979, the adjourned regular meeting on April 5, <br />1979, the adjournedregular meeting on April 6, 1979, the adjourned regular <br />meeting on April 9, 1979, the adjourned regular meeting on April 10, 1979, <br />the adjourned regular meeting on April 16, 1979, the adjourned regular meeting <br />on April 17, 1979, the regular meeting on April 17, 1979, and the adjourned <br />regular meeting on April 23, 1979, were approved and ordered recorded, upon <br />motion of Commissioner Rhyne, which motion was duly seconded by Commiss <br />ioner Nielsen and upon a vote was unanimously adopted. <br />A revised resolution incorporating theaction taken by the Board <br />in setting forth the priority list of roads scheduled for improvement was presented <br />to the Board. Commissioner Rhyne moved that the resolution be adopted and cert- <br />ified by the Chairman and the Clerk to the Department of Transportation. A copy <br />of the resolution is attached and by this reference made a part hereof. Commiss- <br />ioner Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />A petition seeking the paving of Harward Drive (Secondary Road <br />No. 1248), was presented to the Board. Commissioner Rhyne moved that the <br />petition be approved and that the following resolution be adopted: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners <br />of the County of Lee has investigated the condition of the <br />above described road which is now a part of the system of <br />roads maintained by the State Highway Commission, and <br />which is indicated in red on the attached map; and <br />WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the <br />services rendered by said road and the traffic demands of <br />said county, it is deemed necessary that said road be im- <br />proved in order to better serve the interests of the people <br />of this county. <br />
