BOOK Pdq W Mrs, Beatrice Fields, Finance Officer, appeared before the Board and discussed using one depository for all general fund monies, Commissioner Rhyne moved that the Finance Officer be authorized to solicit proposals from all local banks as to the terms and basis on which they will act as depository for Lee County's general fund monies and further that she be empowered to select and accept the proposal which is most advantageous to the County, Commissioner Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. There was a general discussion about highway priorities by the members of the Board, The Board noted the receipt of a letter from Mr, Sid Taylor, Moore County Administrator concerning support for the Cameron Rural Fire Department. The Board instructed that the Finance Officer disburse the appropriation made for this purpose and so inform Mr. Taylor. The Board discussed naming a person to serve on the Central Business District Committee but took no formal action at this meeting, The Board was advised of a vacancy on the Board of Directors of the Johnston-Lee Community Action Program and by unanimous action, the Board named Mrs. Lessie Monroe Smith to a regular term to be effective as of June 30, 1979. Commissioner Rhyne brought up for discussion, the naming of the new Library building and upon motion of Commissioner Wicker, seconded by Commissioner Funderburke, whichMotion was unanimously adopted upon a vote, it was resolved to refer this matter to the Board of Trustees of the Lee County Library and with directions to that Board to submit their recommendation to this Board for action. The Chairman reported to the Board that correspondence had been received from the N. C. Department of Human Resources' which enclosed a copy of a report from HEW stating that the Federal Government should recover $831, 236. 00, if the local hospital is leased to AMI. Since this sum would have toy be paid by AMI under its agreement with Lee County, it was directed that a copy of the letter be sent to AMI at its Atlanta office.
