0 BOOK 21 PAGE 3 O <br />(b) Introduction: including sponsorship of the project by Lee County; the funding <br />sources with specific reference to the Federal Highway Administration, North <br />Carolina Department of Transportation, and the North Carolina Office of Archives <br />and History, project personnel; and project objectives, <br />(c) Background: including a discussion of the background research conducted on the <br />archaeological and historical context of the project, as appropriate. This section <br />should also contain references to any professional or local consultations contributing <br />to the background research; <br />(d) Project methods: including discussions of specific archaeological methodology <br />employed, e.g., pedestrian survey, archaeological feature types and definitions, and <br />Global Positioning mapping equipment; <br />(e) Project results: including results of the non-invasive archaeological survey and <br />mapping efforts and how these relate to Endor Iron Furnace (3ILE146**); and <br />(f) Conclusions evaluations and recommendations: including recommendations for <br />future research, data collection, and lot-specific management and planning issues. <br />The PI shall employ official State Archaeological Site number designations for all <br />archaeological site references in the final report and data tables. The PI may obtain <br />State Archaeological Site numbers for newly recorded sites prior to submission of site <br />forms by sending a detailed location map (e.g., U.S.G.S. Topographic Map) for each <br />site to the OSA. See also Section (4), below. <br />(3) Final Rgfl9Lt. Following submission of the draft final report by the PI, the OSA shall <br />have thirty (30) days to review the report and communicate all necessary or <br />recommended changes to the PI prior to preparation of the final project report. <br />On or before the Project Description and Contract ending date, the PI shall make all <br />necessary changes and submit five printed copies of the final report to the OSA, at least <br />one of which must be unbound. Three of the copies will be forwarded to the National <br />Park Service by the OSA. In addition, the PI shall submit the report in digital format, on <br />either CD-ROM or computer diskette. <br />The Final Report must be single-spaced and fully paginated. <br />(4) Archaeological Site Forms: Upon completion of the project, the PI shall submit to <br />the OSA copies of completed North Carolina Archaeological Site forms for each site <br />recorded during the project. In addition, the PI shall submit updates for previously <br />recorded sites investigated during the project. Site forms shall be submitted separate from <br />and not included in the final report. <br />(5) Property Access: It shall be the responsibility of the PI to acquire all necessary <br />approvals for entering upon and conducting the archaeological investigations on private <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />
