BK - 00025 PG:0696 County Manager's Report — June 17, 2013 Ongoing Projects Clyde Rhyne Road - Industrial Park Project — No updates on this Project at this time. Airport Authority Projects — The Airport Authority has awarded the paving and rehabilitation contract and work will begin in July /August. The runway will be closed during the construction period. No take off and landings will occur for 50 to 60 days. The Airport is also moving forward with the construction renovation of the hanger for the Forestry Service. The Authority has begun to prepare the loan documents for this project and we should have them on our July agenda. Other Items Fire Districts - All the Board of Directors for the Fire Districts approved the contract/resolution to transfer the Sales Tax Distribution back to the County. As a reminder this was part of the Resolution that changed the sales tax distribution from per capita to ad valorem. The signed document was delivered to Administration /Finance on Friday June 7. County Strategic Planning Process Update — Dan Parks and Ted Abernathy are moving towards completing the written plan by July 31S They have begun the small group meetings with the Department Heads and Farming Community. They are currently planning 3 more "Town Hall" meetings in the County. Once we get those dates and locations we will communicate them to everyone. Legislation That Will Affect Lee County — Legislation that would transfer SRO authority to the Sheriff's office passed the State House and the first reading in the Senate. This bill sits in the Rules and Operations Committee of the Senate. The bill transferring appointment authority for 4 seats on the CCCC Board of Trustees from the Lee County Board of Education to the County Commissioners also passed the House. It passed first reading in the Senate and is the Education /Higher Education Committee. Community Development/Activity Summary — Please find attached the most recent TRC (Technical Review Committee) agenda (meeting was cancelled) and the Building Permit Report from Community Development.
