0 0 <br />BOOK A PAGE 92 <br />LEE <br />COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />PROCLAMATION <br />FALL 2006 "LITTER SWEEP" <br />ROADSIDE CLEANUP <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation annually organizes a Fall <br />State roadside litter cleanup to ensure clean and beautiful roads in North Carolina, and <br />WHEREAS, the Fall 2006 "Litter Sweep" roadside cleanup has been designated for <br />September 16 - 30, 2006, and encourages local government leaders, civic and <br />professional groups, churches, schools, families, businesses, and individual citizens to <br />participate by organizing cleanups in their communities, and <br />WHEREAS, the "Litter Sweep" cleanup will educate and encourage all individuals in Lee <br />County as to the importance of a clean environment and the quality of life in Lee County; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, a clean environment are sources of great pride for all Lee County residents, <br />attracting tourists and aiding in recruiting new industries; and <br />WHEREAS, the cleanup will raise awareness of the need for cleaner roadsides, <br />emphasize the importance of not littering, and encourage recycling of solid wastes; and <br />WHEREAS, the 2006 Fall cleanup will celebrate the 18th anniversary of the North Carolina <br />Adopt-A-Highway program and the thousands of volunteers who contribute their time and <br />labor year round to keep our roadsides clean. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, We the Lee County Board of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim <br />September 16 - 30, 2006, as "LITTER SWEEP" time in Lee County, and urge all citizens <br />to participate in making our roadsides clean and encourage the r~g of solid wastes. <br />Adopted this 14'h day of August 2006. <br />Herbert A.
