10 0 <br />BOOK 21 PACE 130 <br />LEE COUNTY <br />©oo c 41©a <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />MINUTES OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />AUGUST 14, 2006 <br />The special called meeting of the Finance Committee for the County of <br />Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 8:00 a.m. in Room # 124 (Small <br />Conference Room), Lee County Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, <br />Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. Commissioners present were W. Chad <br />Adams, Robert H. Brown, and Robert T. Reives. County Manager David M. <br />Smitherman, Finance Director Lisa Minter, and Clerk to the Board Gaynell M. <br />Lee were also present. <br />Chairman Reives called the meeting to order and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />Mr. Reives stated the primary purpose of the meeting was to consider a <br />funding request from the Lee County Board of Education in the amount of <br />$240,836 to cover salary increases for locally paid positions, and a letter <br />received from Central Carolina Community College stating they anticipated a <br />$35,000 shortfall in funding for energy bills before the end of the fiscal year. <br />After some discussion, Chairman Reives moved to deny the funding request from <br />the Lee County Board of Education in the amount of $240,836 and the Central <br />Carolina Community College anticipated funding request in the amount of <br />$35,000. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Brown, and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />Chairman Reives ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />County Manager David Smitherman was asked to develop a <br />comprehensive energy conservation policy to study and address guidelines for <br />departments to follow in helping conserve energy. It was also felt that agencies <br />that receive county funding should also adhere to guidelines proposed by the <br />county to conserve energy. <br />
