10 0 BOOK 21 PACE 130 LEE COUNTY ©oo c 41©a Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow MINUTES OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA AUGUST 14, 2006 The special called meeting of the Finance Committee for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 8:00 a.m. in Room # 124 (Small Conference Room), Lee County Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. Commissioners present were W. Chad Adams, Robert H. Brown, and Robert T. Reives. County Manager David M. Smitherman, Finance Director Lisa Minter, and Clerk to the Board Gaynell M. Lee were also present. Chairman Reives called the meeting to order and the following business was transacted: Mr. Reives stated the primary purpose of the meeting was to consider a funding request from the Lee County Board of Education in the amount of $240,836 to cover salary increases for locally paid positions, and a letter received from Central Carolina Community College stating they anticipated a $35,000 shortfall in funding for energy bills before the end of the fiscal year. After some discussion, Chairman Reives moved to deny the funding request from the Lee County Board of Education in the amount of $240,836 and the Central Carolina Community College anticipated funding request in the amount of $35,000. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Adams, Brown, and Reives Nay: None Chairman Reives ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. County Manager David Smitherman was asked to develop a comprehensive energy conservation policy to study and address guidelines for departments to follow in helping conserve energy. It was also felt that agencies that receive county funding should also adhere to guidelines proposed by the county to conserve energy.
