0 BOOK 21 nGE 08 <br />Chairman Hincks opened the public hearing that had been advertised for <br />this date and time. <br />No one present spoke in favor or in opposition to the ten-year <br />Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan. Chairman Hincks closed the <br />public hearing. <br />Commissioner Stevens moved to approve the Resolution Accepting and <br />Endorsing the Solid Waste Management Plan of 2006-2016 for Lee County, a <br />copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part <br />hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Brown, Hincks, Lemmond, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered the FY 2006-07 Fire District Budget Ordinance. Mr. <br />Donald Andrews, Jr., Chairman of the Lee County Fire Advisory Board presented <br />the FY 2006-07 Fire District Budget Ordinance and asked the Board's approval. <br />Mr. Andrews stated the Advisory Board had reviewed budget requests from the <br />nine volunteer fire departments and had worked with all departments to get a <br />better understanding of their needs. Carolina Trace Fire Department asked for <br />an increase in their part time hours from twenty (20) hours per week to forty (40) <br />hours per week, and the Tramway Department asked for a full-time paid position. <br />After some discussion, Commissioner Lemmond moved to approve the FY 2006- <br />07 Fire District Budget Ordinance, a copy of which is attached to these minutes <br />and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Brown, Hincks, Lemmond, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Ms. Sara Cedano, representing the Minority Inclusiveness Committee, <br />completed the required documents to appear before the Board to discuss the <br />outline for the Human Relations Commission. Ms. Cedano discussed areas of <br />concern and stated that representatives from the City of Sanford, Town of <br />Broadway and Lee County would need to be appointed to the Human Relations <br />Commission by the Commissioners. She stated that the Commission would <br />research and develop by-laws that will later be presented to the Commissioners. <br />After Ms. Cedano's presentation, Commissioner Brown moved for the <br />Commissioners to recognize the work completed to date by the Minority <br />Inclusiveness Committee and for the group to present by-laws at a later date for <br />consideration and approval.
