BK:00025 PG:0675 LEE COUNTY .""M VAt Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow BUDGET WORK SESSION OF THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS 106 HILLCREST DRIVE SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA 27330 JUNE 10, 2013 The budget work session of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 2 p.m. in the Gordon Wicker Conference Room, Lee County Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. Commissioners Amy M. Dalrymple, Dr. Ricky D. Frazier, Charles T. Parks, Kirk D. Smith, and James K. Womack were in attendance. Commissioner Dr. Andre Knecht was absent for the entire meeting and Commissioner Robert T. Reives joined the meeting at 1:10 p.m. Staff in attendance included County Manager John Crumpton, Assistant County Manager /Finance Director Lisa Minter, and Clerk to the Board Gaynell Lee. Various department heads and staff were also in attendance. Chairman Parks called the budget work session to order. Commissioner Parks delivered the invocation. The pledge of allegiance was recited. The Board considered Senate Bill 236 authorizing counties to assume the responsibilities for school construction. Commissioner Womack moved to approve a Resolution Supporting Senate Bill 236, a copy of which is attached to these Minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Parks, Smith, and Womack Nay: Dalrymple and Frazier Absent: Knecht and Reives The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a 3 to 2 vote. County Manager John Crumpton shared with the Board potential budget changes for FY 2013 -14 that have been discussed from all the budget work sessions. Commissioner Dalrymple stated she was concerned with Teacher Assistants being cut from the School Budget. Commissioner Womack stated he would rather keep Teach Assistance over new computer upgrades.
