BK:00025 PG:0675 <br />LEE COUNTY <br />.""M VAt <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />BUDGET WORK SESSION <br />OF THE <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />106 HILLCREST DRIVE <br />SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA 27330 <br />JUNE 10, 2013 <br />The budget work session of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North <br />Carolina, convened at 2 p.m. in the Gordon Wicker Conference Room, Lee County Government <br />Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. Commissioners Amy M. Dalrymple, <br />Dr. Ricky D. Frazier, Charles T. Parks, Kirk D. Smith, and James K. Womack were in attendance. <br />Commissioner Dr. Andre Knecht was absent for the entire meeting and Commissioner Robert T. Reives <br />joined the meeting at 1:10 p.m. Staff in attendance included County Manager John Crumpton, Assistant <br />County Manager /Finance Director Lisa Minter, and Clerk to the Board Gaynell Lee. Various <br />department heads and staff were also in attendance. <br />Chairman Parks called the budget work session to order. <br />Commissioner Parks delivered the invocation. <br />The pledge of allegiance was recited. <br />The Board considered Senate Bill 236 authorizing counties to assume the responsibilities for <br />school construction. Commissioner Womack moved to approve a Resolution Supporting Senate Bill <br />236, a copy of which is attached to these Minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a <br />vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Parks, Smith, and Womack <br />Nay: Dalrymple and Frazier <br />Absent: Knecht and Reives <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a 3 to 2 vote. <br />County Manager John Crumpton shared with the Board potential budget changes for FY <br />2013 -14 that have been discussed from all the budget work sessions. <br />Commissioner Dalrymple stated she was concerned with Teacher Assistants being cut <br />from the School Budget. Commissioner Womack stated he would rather keep Teach <br />Assistance over new computer upgrades. <br />
