0 BOOK 9 n o.83 <br />A copy of the publication notice prepared by the Division of <br />Environmental Management for the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources <br />and Commerce Development, concerning the application by Liberty Furniture <br />Company for approval to construct a furniture manufacturing facility in Sanford <br />was read to the Board. Copies were furnished to the members of the press in <br />order that the public might be aware of the application. <br />The letter from the Mayor of Broadway to the Chairman requesting <br />that the County withdraw its application for funds under the North Carolina Clean <br />Water Act was read to the Board and discussed. No action was taken. <br />The Board next considered appointments to the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission. Commissioner Nielsen nominated Mr. William McNeill for the <br />vacancy created by the expiration of the term of Mr. Worth Pickard. Commiss- <br />ioner Wicker nominated Mr. Douglas Johnson for the vacancy created by the <br />expiration of the term of Mr. Joe Edwards. Commissioner Funderburke moved <br />that Mr. McNeill and Mr. Johnson be appointed to the Lee County Parks and <br />Recreation Commission, for the regular term of office. Commissioner Nielsen <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Earl Sloan was re-appointed to the County Planning Board <br />for the prescribed term, upon motion of Commissioner Wicker, seconded by <br />Commissioner Rhyne, which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Bob Brickhouse was appointed to the Board of Trustees of <br />Central Carolina Technical Institute, upon motion of Commissioner Rhyne, <br />seconded by Commissioner Wicker, which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. W. M. Womble was re-appointed to the Sanford-Lee County <br />Airport Commission for the regular term prescribed by the Ordinance creating <br />said Commission, upon motion of Commissioner Rhyne, seconded by Commiss- <br />ioner Nielsen, which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />The action in submitting the name of Mr. Hal T. Siler, as a <br />helper to work with'the U. S. Bureau of Census, was ratified and approved, <br />upon motion of Commissioner Rhyne, seconded by Commissioner Funderburke, <br />which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />There being no further business to come before the session, it <br />was adjourned. <br />CHAIRMAN <br />C <br />
