9 et.6c508 0 <br />Commissioner Nielsen moved that the amendments be authorized and approved. <br />Commissioner Wicker seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, Comm- <br />issioners Funderburke, Nielsen, Rhyne, Wicker and Harmon voted for it and <br />no one voted against it. <br />The Board took a recess and following the recess, the Chairman <br />of the Lee County Board of Education, was recognized. The resolution read by <br />the Chairman requested the Board of Commissioners to call a local bond referen- <br />dum in the amount of $7, 700, 000. 00, for the purpose of construction and renovat- <br />ions at the Senior High School. The entire resolution is as set out in the copy <br />attached to these minutes and made a part hereof by this reference. Commissioner <br />Rhyne moved the adoption of the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Education <br />has by resolution, petitioned the Board of Commissioners <br />for Lee County, to issue bonds in the amount of <br />$7, 700, 000. 00,, to pay capital costs of improvements <br />and additions to Lee Senior High. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the <br />Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, as follows: <br />1. That K. R. Hoyle, County Attorney, be and he <br />is hereby authorized to cause Notice of Intention to apply <br />to the Local Government Commission for approval of bonds <br />to be published in the manner required by law. <br />2. That K. R. Hoyle, County Attorney, be desig- <br />nated the representative of Lee County, to file the applic- <br />ation for approval of bonds with the Local Government <br />Commission, and that K. R. Hoyle, County Attorney, be <br />authorized to employ the firm of DeBoeuf, Lamb, Leiby <br />& MacRae, 140 Broadway, New York, New York 10005, <br />as bond counsel, to represent Lee County in the authori- <br />zation and issuance of the bonds. <br />Commissioner Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr., Stephen Rice, Engineer, with the firm of Williams & Works, <br />appeared before the Board, with representatives of the Lee County Planning Board <br />and discussed the Airport Hazard Ordinance. The Ordinance was reviewed in <br />detail and the Board had initiated procedures to adopt the same when it was <br />called to their attention that a public hearing would be required. Commissioner <br />Rhyne then moved that a public hearing be held on Monday, August 6th, 1979, <br />at 11 o'clock a. m., at the Commissioners Room and that proper notice of such <br />meeting be given and advertised. The motion was duly seconded by Commissioner <br />Funderburke and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next considered the matter of the bids received on the <br />GKN Water Line. With respect to the bids received, the Board was of the opinion <br />that the low bid received on Section "A" from W. & W. Contracting Company, <br />in the amount of $208, 390. 00, was free from confusion and should be accepted, <br />subject to EDA approval. The Board was of the opinion that the bid received on <br />Section "C" from Blue Contracting Company, in the amount of $82, 305. 00, was <br />free from confusion and should be accepted, subject to EDA approval. However, <br />the Board was of the opinion with respect to Section "B", known as the Colon <br />Road section, that confusion existed in the advertisement and in the bids resulting <br />
