BOOK 9 ?ACE534 WHEREAS, the State is required to insure that there will be no discrimination against any person of any race, color, sex, creed, or political affiliation; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the County of Lee realizes that recreation facilities are not adequate to meet minimum recreational needs of the people of Lee County; and WHEREAS, it is believed that said Board of Commissioners with the assistance of the general public is now in position to lend full support to the renovation of a Swimming Pool and Bath House at Horton Park. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA: (1) That an application be made to the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation, Department of the Interior of the U. S. Government through the State of North Carolina, for a development grant of $45, 638 which represents fifty percent (50%) of all costs ($91, 276) including pre- paration, plans, and renovation of recreational facilities to be completed in the fiscal year 1979- 1980. (2) That the Parks and Recreation Director of the County of Lee be authorized and directed to file such application on behalf of the County of Lee, to provide additional information and to furnish such documents as may be required by the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation and the State of North Carolina and to act as the authori- zed correspondent of the County of Lee. (3) That the Director, Bureau of Outdoor Recrea- tion, Department of the Interior of the United States Govern- ment be, and hereby is assured of full compliance by the applicant with the regulations promulgated pursuant to Title VI of Civil Rights Act of 1964. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved the adoption of the foregoing resolution, which motion was duly seconded by Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. There was next presented to the Board, a grant award from the North Carolina Department of Crime Control & Public Safety to Lee County for Youth Services in the amount of $12, 744. 00 being 80% of the total project cost. The grant award was approved and the Chairman was authorized and directed to sign the acceptance of the grant for and on behalf of the County, upon motion of Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, seconded by Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote. The allocation of $3, 697. 00, as Lee County's share for the Grassroots Arts Program, was reported to the Board by the North Carolina Arts Council. The award was accepted upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, seconded by Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote.
