0 BOOK 9 PACE536 <br />MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Thursday, August 23, 1979 <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br />for the County of Lee, convened in the Commissioners room, second floor, <br />County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 1:00 <br />o'clock p. m. , on Thursday, August 23, 1979, the same being the time, date, <br />and place specified in the motion of adjournment. Those present were Comm- <br />issioners K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, and Clyde J. Rhyne. Commissioners <br />Jack D. Funderburke and Gordon A. Wicker were absent. The Chairman declared <br />a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />transacted: <br />Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne introduced the following bond order <br />which was read at length: <br />"BOND ORDER AUTHORIZING THE <br />ISSUANCE OF $7, 700, 000 SCHOOL <br />BONDS OF THE COUNTY OF LEE" <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the <br />County of Lee has received and considered a resolution <br />from the Lee County Board of Education including a <br />request that the Board of Commissioners provide and <br />improve public school facilities in Lee County and sub- <br />mit the question of issuing bonds to accomplish such <br />purpose to the voters of Lee County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board has caused to be filed with <br />the Secretary of the Local Government Commission of <br />North Carolina, an application for Commission approval <br />of the Bonds hereinafter described as required by The <br />Local Government Finance Act, and the Secretary of the <br />Local Government Commission has notified the Board <br />that the application has been filed and accepted for sub- <br />mission to the Local Government Commission; NOW, <br />THEREFORE, <br />BE IT ORDERED by the Board of Commissioners <br />of the County of Lee, as follows: <br />Section 1. The Board of Commissioners of the <br />County of Lee has ascertained and hereby determines that <br />it is necessary to make improvements of and additions to <br />Lee Senior High School, including the acquisition and in- <br />stallation of furnishings and equipment necessary therefor, <br />in order to maintain public schools in the County for the <br />school term prescribed by law, and to pay capital costs <br />of such improvements. <br />
