Boon w,( 560 <br />MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Tuesday, September 18, 1979 <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for <br />the County of Lee, convened at 8:00 o'clock p. m. , on Tuesday, September 18, 1979, <br />at the City Hall, Sanford, North Carolina, in keeping with the motion for adjournment <br />made at the September 17, 1979, meeting. Those present were Commissioners <br />Jack D. Funderburke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, Clyde J. Rhyne and Gordon <br />A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. In addition to the Board of <br />Commissioners for the County of Lee, there was also the Mayor and the members <br />of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Sanford, who were also holding a regular <br />meeting. Mayor Roy Stewart presided for the City of Sanford, and Chairman K. S. <br />Harmon presided for the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee. The <br />following business was transacted: <br />Mayor Roy Stewart called for consideration of the reports of the <br />Board of Appraisers with respect to the Airport property following which the Board <br />of Aldermen for the City of Sanford voted to go into Executive Session. Chairman <br />Harmon called for consideration of the same report by the Board of Commissioners <br />for the County of Lee, and Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the Board <br />go into Executive Session. Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Following the Executive Session, the Boards <br />re-convened in open meeting. Mrs. Betty Godfrey Johnson and Mr. Scott Johnson, <br />spoke in opposition to any taking of property for and on behalf of the Airport Commission. <br />After hearing all interested parties, the City of Sanford considered and adopted Final <br />Condemnation Resolutions respecting the property. Following the action taken by the <br />City of Sanford, the Coard of Commissioners of the County of Lee took up and adopted <br />Final Condemnation Resolutions, as follows: <br />(a) Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved the adoption of the Final <br />Condemnation Resolution pertaining to Tract No. 6, as shown on a map prepared by <br />Williams & Works, Inc. , entitled "Survey for Sanford-Lee County Airport", and <br />dated April 26, 1979, a copy of which resolution is attached to these minutes and by <br />this reference made a part hereof. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded <br />the motion and upon a vote, Commissioners Jack D. Funderburke, Lila P. Nielsen, <br />and Clyde J. Rhyne, voted for the adoption of the resolution and Chairman K. S. <br />Harmon and Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker voted against it. The Chairman <br />declared the motion adopted by a majority vote. <br />(b) Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved the adoption of the Final <br />Condemnation Resolution pertaining to Tract No. 8, as shown on a map prepared by <br />Williams & Works, Inc. , entitled "Survey for Sanford-Lee County Airport", and <br />dated April 26, 1979, a copy of which resolution is attached to these minutes and by <br />this reference made a part hereof. The Chairman <br />declared the motion adopted by a majority vote. <br />
