aooK ravf 598 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />MONDAY, November 19, 1979 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of <br />Lee, State of North Carolina, convened on Monday, November 19, 1979, at 7 o'clock <br />p. m. , in the Commissioners Room, second floor, County Office Building, 200 Wicker <br />Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were Commissioners Jack D. Funder- <br />burke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, Clyde J. Rhyne and Gordon A. Wicker. The <br />Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of <br />business. <br />Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The meeting was opened by prayer given by the Reverend Richard <br />Bolls, Pastor of the Pocket Presbyterian Church. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on November 5th, 1979, <br />were approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne, <br />seconded by Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke, which motion was unanimously <br />adopted upon a vote. <br />Mr. Herb Fletcher appeared before the Board to express the sense <br />of urgency of those interested in a fire department at the Carolina Trace Subdivision. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker inquired as to the possibleuse of <br />New Hope School as a fire station and Commissioner Nielsen replied that such'a use <br />was still under study by people in the neighborhood of the school. <br />Mr. David Riddle, representative of Childress- Roberts Insurance <br />Agency, appeared before the Board and discussed the liability insurance coverage <br />presently in force by the company. Mr. Riddle indicated that the County Commiss- <br />ioners were covered where they served on other boards by virtue of their being County <br />Commissioners, but that the other County appointees on such boards were not covered <br />in his opinion. He promised to investigate the matter and report back to the Board. <br />Mr. David Riddle presented a statement of values which was reviewed <br />by the Board. The statement of values deleted the Library building and the community <br />building in Broadway, and its execution was approved by motion of Commissioner <br />Gordon A. Wicker, seconded by Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, which motion was <br />unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />The Clerk of the Board of Commissioners placed before the Board <br />of Commissioners a Certificate of Canvass of the Lee County Board of Elections <br />certifying to the Board the results of the Special Election held in the County of Lee on <br />November 6, 1979. The Certificate was read and considered. <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution: <br />
