BOOK 9 fACL610 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, December 3rd, 1979 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, <br />North Carolina, convened on Monday, December 3, 1979, at 9:30 o'clock a. m. , in <br />the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker <br />Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were Commissioners Jack D. Funder- <br />burke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, Clyde J. Rhyne, and Gordon A. Wicker. None <br />of the Commissioners were absent and the Chairman declared that a quorum was present <br />and the meeting was open for business. <br />Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The meeting was opened by prayer given by Father Jack Dorsel of St. <br />Stephen Catholic Church. <br />The Board proceeded to choose one of its members to serve as <br />Chairmanfor the ensuing year, in accordance with General Statute 153A-9. An election <br />was held and Chairman K. S. Harmon received 4 votes and Commissioner Clyde J. <br />Rhyne received one vote. Chairman Harmon was declared elected by a majority vote <br />and the Board proceeded to choose a Vice-Chairman. An election was held and <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne was unanimously elected Vice-Chairman. Both Comm- <br />issioners expressed their appreciation for having been chosen to serve in these capac- <br />ities. <br />Examination of the minutes for the first Monday in December, 1978. <br />showed that the following appointments had been made for a one year period. Comm- <br />issioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the following persons be appointed to the <br />position indicated to serve at the pleasure of the Board and until their successors are <br />appointed and qualify, namely: <br />Clerk to Board (G. S. 153A-111) K. R. Hoyle <br />County Attorney (G. S. 153A-114) K. R. Hoyle <br />Finance Officer (G.S.159-24) Beatrice C. Fields <br />Budget Officer (G.S. 159-10) Beatrice C. Fields <br />Tax Collector (G. S. 105-349) Nathan D. Crissman <br />Deputy Tax Collector (G.S. 105-349) Donnie V. Cox <br />Tax Attorney Jimmy L. Love <br />Special County Attorney for social <br />services matters (G.S. 108-20) Harry E. Wilson <br />Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on Monday, November 19, <br />1979, were approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner Clyde J. <br />Rhyne, seconded by Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke, which was unanimously <br />adopted upon a vote. <br />
