BOOK 9 rAGE61 7 <br />The Chairman brought up for discussion the appointments to the <br />Library Board. After discussion, Commissioner Rhyne moved that the present rule es- <br />tablished by prior boards that no appointee of this Board should be appointed to more than <br />two consecutive terms or eight years service be rescinded. Commissioner Jack D. <br />Funderburke seconded the motion. Upon a roll call, Commissioners Funderburke, <br />Rhyne and Harmon voted for the motion and Commissioners Nielsen and Wicker voted <br />against it. The Chairman declared the motion carried and that the rule had been <br />rescinded. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved that Dr. John E. Dotterer and <br />Mrs. Margaret Murchison be appointed to the Library Board of Trustees for terms to be <br />designated by later action of this Board. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded <br />the motion and upon a vote it was carried by a majority vote. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported to the Board that Dr. J. S. <br />Simmons term on the District Board of Health had expired and that if it meets with the <br />approval of this Board it was his intention to reappoint Dr. Simmons as well as Mr. <br />John McPhaul and Mrs. Sandra Wilson. Upon motion made, seconded, and unanimously <br />adopted, it was resolved to approve the appointment of Mrs. Wilson, Dr. Simmons, and <br />Mr. McPhaul, by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, to the District Health Board. <br />The Chairman announced his appointments for the coming year which <br />were as follows: <br />Commissioner Activities <br />Gordon A. Rhyne announced to the Board that Mr. Charles <br />Reeves was going to make a gift to the County of two parcels of land in the vicinity of <br />Wicker Street Extension and U. S. Highway No. 1 By-Pass. Commissioner Rhyne <br />moved that the Board accept the gifts of these parcels of land. Commissioner Nielsen <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />
