Wicker, which motion was seconded
by Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne, and unanimously adopted, the Board authorized the
advertising for bids in accordance with such specifications.
The request of the trustees of the Lee County Library to use existing
funds to employ non-profession assistants, was presented to the Board. Commissioner
Gordon A. Wicker moved that the request be approved and such employment be author-
ized. Commissioner Clyde J. Following the recess, the
Chairman read to the Board a letter from Mr. James L. Clark, resigning his position
as Tax Supervisor, effective February 28, 1980. C. McIver appeared before the Board and stated that the
family of Mr. A. H. McIver did not like the change in the name of the Library. She
requested that if the name could not remain the same, that is, "Lee County Library",
that at least the name "A. H. McIver Auditorium", be displayed with the same
prominence as the name "Susanne Reeves Library" on the front of the structure.
Others in the audience were recognized and heard. No formal action was taken.
