BOO 9 P?,Fj; +~3$ <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />as:, ,.0" <br />Monday, January 21, 1980 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, <br />North Carolina, convened on Monday, January 21, 1980, at 7:00 o'clock p, m., in the <br />Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker <br />Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were Commissioners Jack D. Funder- <br />burke, K. S. Harmon, Clyde J. Rhyne, and Gordon A. Wicker. Commissioner Lila <br />P. Nielsen was absent. The Chairman declared that a quorum was present and the <br />meeting open for business. <br />transacted: <br />Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />The invocation was given by the Reverend Jan Fogleman, Assistant <br />Pastor of St. Luke United Methodist Church. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on Monday, January 7, <br />1980, were approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner Clyde J. <br />Rhyne, which motion was duly seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, and <br />unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne reported to the Board that he had met <br />with the trustees of the Lee County Library and that the trustees had voted to take <br />down the wooden sign which says "Lee County Library" and would replace it with <br />another sign which would designate it as a part of the Lee County Library System. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported that he had been in touch <br />with Mr. Fred Beck, Highway District Engineer, and asked him to look at the <br />culverts and approaches to the Hart Trailer Park. <br />Chairman Harmon announced that he had received a road program <br />book from the Department of Transportation and was turning it over to Commissioner <br />Rhyne for his information and use. <br />Mr. David Hill, Youth Coordinator of the Lee County Commission <br />on Youth, appeared before the Board and introduced Reverend Richard Woodard and <br />Ms. Judy Wilson, who accompanied him. Mr. Hill asked approval by the Commiss- <br />ioners for the inauguration for a community based program for In-School Suspension, <br />to be conducted at the East Lee Junior High School. Approval to inaugurate the pro- <br />gram was given, upon motion made by Commissioner Rhyne, seconded by Commiss- <br />ioner Wicker, which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Ms. Judy Wilson next appeared before the Board on behalf of the <br />Commission on Youth and reviewed the appointees proposed by the Commission. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved that the parties designated as "Replacement" <br />be appointed or re-appointed, as the case may be, for the appropriate term and that <br />the Lee County Commission on Youth be directed to report the expiration date for <br />such appointees and the appointees were as follows: <br />
