F1 <br />BOOK 9 Fmc 654 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, <br />North Carolina, was held on Monday, March 17, 1980, at 7:00 o'clock p. m. , in the <br />Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker <br />Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were Commissioners Jack D. Funder- <br />burke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, Clyde J. Rhyne and Gordon A. Wicker. None of <br />the Commissioners were absent. The Chairman declared a quorum present and the <br />meeting open for the transaction of business. Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the <br />following business was transacted: <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />MONDAY, March 17, 1980 <br />The invocation was given by the Reverend Worth Watts, Pastor of the <br />Jonesboro Presbyterian Church. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on March 3, 1980, were <br />approved upon motion of Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne, which motion was seconded <br />by Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, and unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />A petition for improvements for a road off from the Cameron Village <br />road was received and the Board requested more information concerning the petition <br />and asked the clerk to return the petition to the responsible party. <br />A request for hard-surfacing approximately 1000 feet of Secondary <br />Road 1131, was considered. Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved the adoption of the <br />following resolution: <br />rM <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the <br />County of Lee has investigated the condition of the above des- <br />cribed road which is now a part of the system of roads main- <br />tained by the State Highway Commission, and which is indicated <br />in red on the attached map; and <br />WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the services <br />rendered by said road and the traffic demands of said county, <br />it is deemed necessary that said road be improved in order to <br />better serve the interests of the people of this county. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, and the Board of <br />County Commissioners hereby approve and request that the <br />State Highway Commission make the following improvements <br />in the above described road: Hard-surfacing. <br />Comissioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it <br />was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next took up for consideration, the proposed Ordinance <br />to provide that the Lee County Library System is to be operated, pursuant to Article <br />14, Chapter 153A, General Statutes of North Carolina. The matter was discussed <br />and reviewed after which Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved that the Ordinance, <br />a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof, <br />be adopted, effective immediately. Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />
