<br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Crime
<br />Control and Public Safety has offered a grant in the amount of
<br />Seven Thousand Six Hundred Dollars ($7, 600. 00) for Lee
<br />County's acceptance.
<br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of
<br />Commissioners of Lee County, to accept the grant offer of Seven
<br />Thousand Six Hundred Dollars ($7, 600. 00), and authorize the
<br />Chairman, K. S. Harmon, to sign the acceptance of the grant.
<br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a
<br />vote it was unanimously adopted.
<br />Mr. Buchanan then requested that the budget for the jail be amended
<br />to reflect the grant. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the Jail budget be
<br />amended to show an increase in the appropriation for Equipment, Line Item 10-520-74,
<br />in the amount of $8, 000. 00, and that the General Fund Revenue be increased to reflect
<br />a $7, 600. 00 grant from the North Carolina Department of Crime Control, Line Item
<br />10-350-00, and that $400. 00 be appropriated from the Emergency and Contingency Fund
<br />to the General Fund Revenue, Line Item 10-350-00. Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne
<br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne, seconded by Comm-
<br />issioner Lila P. Nielsen, which motion was unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED
<br />to authorize Chairman K. S. Harmon, Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, and Grants
<br />Director, Elwin J. Buchanan, to meet with the City of Sanford and its Law and Finance
<br />Committee, to see what could be done to clear the way for the amendment to the 201
<br />Wastewater Study and other matters relating to sewer problems in the County.
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded by Comm-
<br />issioner Jack D. Funderburke, the fee for Williams & Works, in the amount of
<br />$500. 00, for professional services for attending a meeting on January 31, 1980, on
<br />wastewater problems and sanitary sewer service and preparation of exhibits, was
<br />approved for payment.
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne, seconded by
<br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, it was RESOLVED to authorize the Grants
<br />Department to prepare a formal application for the San-Lee Heights Project in the
<br />amount of $558, 000. 00, under the Community Development Program.
<br />Mr. Buchanan presented for consideration, the budget for the Airport
<br />Development Aid Program. Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved, that in Revenue
<br />Sources, the following Code Numbers be reduced by the amount indicated in the Airport
<br />Development Aid Program #5-37-0089-01, as follows:
<br />Code No. 68-349-01 N. C. Department of Transportation Divison of Aeronautics,
<br />$2, 600. 50; Code No. 68-397-00, Lee County $1, 300. 25; Code No. 68-397-01, City of
<br />Sanford $1, 300. 25.
<br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a roll
<br />call vote, Commissioners Funderburke, Harmon, Nielsen, Rhyne and Wicker voted for
<br />it and no one voted against it.
<br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved that the budget be amended
<br />according to the following summary and schedule in order to establish a budget for the
<br />Sanford-Lee County Airport Development Aid Program:
<br />Section 1: The following amounts are hereby appropriated for the operation of the
<br />Sanford-Lee County Airport Development Aid Program, Grant #5-37-0089-03, for the
<br />period of April 21, 1980 to June 21, 1980, according to the following summary and
<br />schedule:
