M <br />eom 9 ~au 67? <br />M <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, April 21st, 1980 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of <br />the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 7:00 <br />o'clock p. m. , on Monday, the 21st day of April, 1980. Those present were Comm- <br />issioners Jack D. Funderburke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, Clyde J. Rhyne, and <br />Gordon A. Wicker. The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting open for <br />the transaction of business. <br />transacted: <br />Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />The invocation was given by Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne. <br />Commissioner Rhyne reported that he had received a letter from the <br />Highway authorities stating that the road which a Mr. Harper had inquired about was <br />accepted by them as a subdivision road and could only be improved under the existing <br />state policy with respect to such roads. A copy of the letter was mailed to Mr. Harper. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne, seconded by <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, it was RESOLVED to designate May as Senior Citizens <br />Month, and to authorize the Chairman to issue a proclamation to that effect. <br />It was reported to the Board by the Johnston-Lee Community Action, <br />Inc. , that Community Services Administration regulations have been changed to <br />require that currently serving Commissioners be designated to serve on Community <br />Action Boards. Once the elected official has been designated, he or she may select <br />any person of his or her choice to serve in his stead and the selected person serve <br />at the pleasure of the official designating him or her. <br />Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke moved that the Sheriff's budget <br />be amended to appropriate $5, 100. 00 from the Unappropriated Surplus in the General <br />Fund and to appropriate $3, 000. 00 to Equipment and $2, 100. 00 to Maintenance of <br />Autos, and also to reduce the line item for insurance by $3, 000. 00, and to increase <br />the line item for Maintenance of Equipment by $1, 500. 00 and the line item for Equip- <br />ment by $1, 500. 00. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />At the request of the Tax Supervisor, Commissioner Jack D. <br />Funderburke moved that the budget for the Tax Supervisor be amended as follows: <br />Decrease Salaries and Wages, Line Item 450-02, by $974. 00; decrease Travel, Line <br />Item 450-14 by $1, 000. 00; decrease Maintenance of Equipment, Line Item 450-16 by <br />$900. 00; and increase Printing and Supplies, Line Item 450-12 by $1, 800. 00; increase <br />Equipment, Line Item 450-'74 by $27. 00; and increase Mapping and Re-Appraisal, Line <br />Item 450-75 by $1,047.00. Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />
