80oK 9 Pt~E 693e <br />WHEREAS, the Department has, by regulation, <br />provided that no application for approval of a project <br />will be officially received until the governing body of <br />the county from which the application is made has, by <br />resolution, approved in principle the proposed project <br />and a certified copy of such resolution has been provided <br />to the Department; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners <br />desires to approve the Project in principle; NOW, <br />THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Comm- <br />issioners of the County of Lee, as follows: <br />(1) The project is hereby approved in principle. <br />(2) The Clerk of the Board of Commissioners is <br />hereby authorized and directed to provide a certified copy of <br />this resolution to the Department. <br />(3) This resolution shall take effect immediately <br />upon its passage. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved the passage of the fore- <br />going resolution and Commissioner Lila P, Nielsen seconded the motion, and the <br />resolution was passed by the following vote: <br />AYES: Funderburke, Nielsen, Rhyne, Wicker and Harmon <br />NAYS: None <br />The Board next considered the resolution calling for the County <br />Manager Plan of Administration, which had been distributed at the last meeting. <br />After discussion, Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution: <br />WHEREAS, Part 2, Article 5, of Chapter 153A, of <br />the General Statutes of North Carolina, authorizes the <br />adoption of the County Manager Plan of Administration in <br />counties, and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners <br />is of the opinion that the County Manager Plan of Adminis- <br />tration would promote efficiency in government and better <br />service to the people of Lee County; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the <br />County Manager Plan of Administration is hereby adopted, effec- <br />tive as of July Ist, 1980. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne seconded the motion and upon a <br />roll call vote, it was adopted as follows: <br />AYE: Funderburke, Nielsen, Rhyne and Harmon <br />NAY: Wicker <br />It was announced that Congressman Whitley's mobile unit would be <br />in Deep River Township on May 20, 1980. <br />
