0 BOOK 21 PAGE 915 <br />LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine is the highest civilian honor that can be <br />granted by the State of North Carolina, and <br />WHEREAS, Louis W. (Bobby) Powell was inducted into this exalted order by the <br />Honorable Michael F. Easley, Governor of the State of North Carolina on October 24, <br />2007, in recognition of his record of contributions and services to his community and <br />state: and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Powell has a long record of public service as the Superintendent of The <br />Sanford Golf Course and a department head of the City of Sanford between 1961 and <br />1998, the first Lee County Coordinator of Community Action Programs, the first Director <br />of the Lee County Head Start Program, a member of the Lee County Board of Education <br />for 12 years, a member of the Board of Trustees of Central Carolina Community College <br />for 14 years, and is a current member of Sanford-Lee County Airport Authority. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Lee County <br />as follows: <br />1. That it congratulates Louis W. (Bobby) Powell on his induction into the <br />Order of the Long Leaf Pine, a most prestigious award, and <br />2.
