It was proposed by staff for Lee County to stay with Blue Cross <br />Blue Shield of North Carolina for health insurance purposes for the upcoming year. The Board <br />was asked to approve the current PPO health insurance with benefits remaining the same for <br />FY 2013 -14. The PPO Plan is a basic co -pay plan of $20 for office visits and pharmacy co- <br />pays of $4, $40, and $55. Monthly cost to employees will decrease from $67.70 per month to <br />$50.40 per month for those employees who participated in the county's wellness screenings. <br />Non — participants premiums will go from $67.70 to $75.40 per month. It is proposed that the <br />current HSA Plan remain the same with a $1,000 contribution by the county for those <br />employees who participated in the county's wellness screenings. Non - participants will receive <br />a $700 contribution to their account. The county's contribution is made to the HSA Plan to <br />help defray costs because the HSA Plan does not have co -pays for office visits and pharmacy. <br />Employees are responsible for 100% of charges up to $1,500 before BCBS pays anything. <br />The employees' contribution will remain at $0. Retirees who are pre -sixty five (65) have the <br />option of choosing between the PPO and the HSA and post- sixty five retirees remain on the <br />MAPD Plan which is expected to increase in January 2013 by 12 %. It was also noted that the <br />health insurance cost increase to the County would be 10.75% with an overall increase of <br />10.53 %. After the presentation and discussion, Commissioner Womack moved to approve <br />Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina as the County's health insurance carrier for the <br />upcoming year (August 1, 2013 — July 31, 2014), and authorized the Chairman to sign the <br />Application and Contract for said services.
