BOOK 21 PAGE 604 Expenditure Reductions: • Reduce Lee County School's current expense appropriation by $67,303, • Reduce Health Department vehicle appropriation by $30,000 (for two vehicles); • Reduce Jail salaries by $5,918 for Pay for Performance adjustment, • Reduce Sandhills Mental Health appropriation by $2,000; • Reduce IT Department by $50,625 to remove IT Support Analyst position originally recommended, and • Remove $31,620 for Pay for Performance Program. Total expenditure reductions amount to $187,466.00. FY 2007-08 Budget Items for Consideration: Commissioner Reives joined the meeting at this time. Revenue Increases: • Increase Fund Balance Appropriated by $28,840 for vehicle for Crime Scene Investigator position • Transfer the purchase of three Sheriff patrol cars ($67,440) from operational funding to funding from Fund Balance Appropriated. Expenditure Reductions: • Reduce funding for Tax Consulting services by $17,541 • Reduce IT Department by $14,232 and fund the secondary storage network • Reduce funding for generator quick connects in Emergency Management by $15,000. Commissioner Shook proposed a method to hire four (4) deputies (as requested by Sheriff Tracy Carter) with two beginning work on October 1, 2007, and two on April 1, 2008. Commissioner Reives said the proposal would not work unless money could be found to pay for two extra patrol cars and computers the deputies would need. Concerns were also expressed by Commissioner Shook to the $2,000 additional appropriation to Johnston-Lee- Harnett Community Action. Commissioner Smith asked questions pertaining to fraud programs at the Department of Social Service and related budget matters. Social Services Director Brenda Potts was present and answered questions.
