The Lee County Board of Commissioners encourages the State of North Carolina
to review its current structure and to make consolidations and changes that
benefit all the citizens of North Carolina.
Section 2. Lee County is opposed to the draft map that creates the Uniform Geographical
Administrative Division due to the fact that it removes the regional partnerships
that County currently has in the Research Triangle Region.
Section 3. Lee County is opposed to being placed in a region where the Major Metropolitan
area is Mecklenburg County, two and half hours away from Lee County, when
the Raleigh Metropolitan area is now 30 minutes away.
Section 4. The County Clerk will forward copies of this resolution to the local North Carolina
Senate and House legislative delegations, the North Carolina Association of
County Commissioners and if enacted the Study Commission on Regionalization
Conformity.
