Drug Seizure Funds (Sheriff) — Drug Seizure funds to cover cost of a new vehicle <br />purchased for the Narcotic's Division. <br />After discussion, Commissioner Smith moved to approve Budget Amendment # 03/18/13/12 as <br />presented, a copy of which is attached to these Minutes and by this reference made a part <br />hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Parks, Reives, Smith, and <br />Nay: None A <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimo <br />The Board considered a Resolution opposing SB 127 move Lee Count o a new <br />Economic Region. County Manager John Crumpton stated now in committ in the NC <br />Senate would move Lee County into a new econo regi n based around Charlotte. <br />Currently Lee County is placed with the Raleigh -Durh ion the Triangle J Council of <br />Governments and the Research Triangle Regional Partn Mr. Crumpton further stated <br />that Moore and Chatham counties are also being considere a same change. Senate Bill <br />127 must pass the Senate and House, and then be approved b overnor. Mr. Crumpton <br />presented a Resolution opposing the move to be placed in region where the Major <br />Metropolitan area is Mecklenburg County, and a half hours way from Lee County, when <br />the Raleigh Metropolitan area is now 30 way. Commissioner Womack stated he <br />didn't think it was a bad idea; thinks it might e b Lee County is in the southern end <br />of the Raleigh region now. He further statet'h idn't ink Lee County would lose anything <br />and we might actually gain something. C / missioner Womack stated he opposed the <br />resolution and thinks we should try something e . Commissioner Smith stated there have <br />been many changes in Ra ' ince the Nove er election. Mr. Crumpton stated that Anson <br />and Montgomery count' a pted out of the Charlotte region and are now on their own. <br />Commissioner Reive ted h wanted Lee County to stay in the Research Triangle Region <br />with Wake and Durham n ' Lee County works with the Aberdeen DOT office <br />and if the change is appro we will a working out of the Albemarle location — over an hour <br />from Lee County. Commission mack stated the Board might want to wait until the April 1St <br />meeting to a the matter talk with the local DOT representatives, local citizens, and <br />surroun ' that will affected with the change to get their feedback. After further <br />discu on, Comm ner Womack moved to defer action on the matter until the April 1, 2013 <br />me and get ad , nal information. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Parks, Reives, Smith, and Womack <br />None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a "draft" Resolution for Economic Incentives Guidelines. County <br />Manager John Crumpton stated he had prepared the Resolution, with review from the School <br />of Government and the County's attorney's, for discussion purposes only since the Board has <br />expressed interest in updating its Economic Incentives Guidelines.
