WHEREAS, the Stevens Center and the Stepping Stones Children's Center have compiled a petition with <br /> seventy-three signatures urging the Lee County Board of Commissioners and the North Carolina <br /> Department of Transportation District 8 Office to reduce the speed limit on Kelly Drive from Pumping <br /> Station Road to the City of Sanford's limits from 55 MPH to 35 MPH; and <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,the Lee County Board of Commissioners,taking into <br /> consideration the safety of all drivers, passengers and users of Kelly Road, in order to prevent collisions <br /> and to protect life and property, strongly encourages and requests the North Carolina Department of <br /> Transportation to reduce the speed limit on Kelly Drive (State Road 1521)from Pumping Station Road to <br /> the City of Sanford limits from 55 MPH to 35MPH; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,the Lee County Board of Commissioners will forward this Resolution <br /> and the attached petition to District 12 State Senator Jim Burgin, District 51 House Representative John <br /> Sauls,North Carolina Department of Transportation Division 8 Member Lisa Mathis, City of Sanford <br /> Mayor Rebecca Wyhof Salmon,and Division 8 Traffic Engineer David Willett. <br /> Ad/i4rk . <br /> td this the 16`s day of September, 2024. <br /> 1 ` 564"I'_ <br /> mith Chair <br /> Lee County Board of Commissioners <br /> ATTEST: <br /> ailey Hall, Clerk t <br /> Lee County Board of Commissioners <br /> cARcti <br />
