NO; BOOK 21 PAGE 523 STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA COUNTY OF LEE CONTRACT AND AGREEMENT This Contract and Agreement made and entered into this I(,g1` day of April, 2007, by and between the Lee County Board of Education, hereafter referred to as "LCBE" party of the first part; Tracy L. Carter, Sheriff of Lee County, hereafter referred to as "Sheriff" party of the second part, and Lee County, part of the third part. WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, LCBE desires to contract with the Sheriff for services of Sheriffs Deputies as Extra School Security. WLIEREAS, the parties desire to reduce their agreement to writing, containing all the terms, and conditions therein, and agree that the same is fair, just equitable, and reasonable. NOW, THEREFORE, to the end and in consideration of the mutual covenants and agreements contained hereinafter, the parties agree as follows: 1. That this contract shall become effective the )(p 4 day of April, 2007 and shall exist and continue in effect until the 8m day of June 2007. 2. The Sheriff shall provide two (2) Deputy Sheriffs acting as Extra School Security, who shall be available for the enforcement of all county ordinances and all State Laws, to serve as law related education teachers and crime prevention officers, and to prevent violence and dangerous weapons on school property. 3. The Sheriff may use the Deputy Sheriff for other duties that he considers emergencies. 4. The LCBE will notify the Sheriff immediately if LCBE determines that services performed by the Extra School Security are unsatisfactory and he shall make any necessary changes to correct the situation within ten (10) days. 5. The Extra School Security Officer designated by the Sheriff to perform the services under this contract shall perform said duties Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. unless school is closed for that day. 6. That the Sheriff's Office shall be reimbursed by LCBE for the salary of $25 per hour, per officer. In which the Sheriff will pay the officer's salary, FICA and workman's compensation. 7. That the Deputy Sheriffs shall be covered by the County's liability insurance policy. 8. That any party may terminate this contract with a ten (10) day written notice of termination.
