a <br />0 0 <br />BOOK 21 PAGE 43 <br />LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />January 29, 2007 <br />The special meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, <br />State of North Carolina, convened at 4:00 p.m. on said date in the <br />Commissioners' Room, Lee County Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, <br />Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present were Robert H. Brown, James <br />C. Kelley, Jerry M. Lemmond, Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. Reives, Linda A. <br />Shook, and Amy L. Stevens. <br />Chairman Brown presided and the following business was transacted: <br />County Attorney K. R. Hoyle delivered the invocation. <br />Chairman Brown led the pledge of allegiance. <br />The Board considered additions to the agenda. County Manager David <br />Smitherman asked that the Board consider a closed session to consult with the <br />County Attorney to protect the attorney-client privilege. Commissioner Kelly <br />moved to approve the agenda as amended. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Brown, Kelly, Lemmond, Paschal, Reives, Shook, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered the resignation of David M. Smitherman, County <br />Manager, effective April 24, 2007. Mr. Smitherman asked that his last work day <br />with Lee County be March 31, 2007, and the remainder of time be paid as <br />vacation leave. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle read a resolution that had been <br />drafted to accept the County Manager's letter of resignation. Commissioner <br />Reives moved to accept the letter of resignation from County Manager David M. <br />Smitherman and Resolution to Accept said resignation, copies of which are <br />
