0 <br />GuU~, 9 PA ?J( 719 <br />AYE: Funderburke, Nielsen, Rhyne, Wicker and Harmon <br />NAY: None <br />The written request of the Board of Supervisors of the Lee County <br />Soil and Conservation District to transfer the remaining balance of funds in the'line <br />item for telephone and postage to printing was presented to the Board. The Super- <br />visors explained that rather than mailing a newsletter from Texas that they have <br />been publishing the newsletter in the Sanford Herald and this necessitated the <br />transfer of funds. Commissioner Lila P:; Nielsen moved that the transfer be approved. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, it was <br />adopted as follows: <br />AYE: Funderburke, Nielsen, Rhyne, Wicker and Harmon <br />NAY: None <br />Commissioner Rhyne moved that Reverend Richard Hobson and Dr. <br />Rastas Smith be appointed to terms on the Harnett-Lee Mental Health Board. Comm- <br />issioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. Commissioner Rhyne reported there was one other vacancy on that Board <br />and that another nomination would be made at a later date. <br />Commissioner C1ydd'J._ Rhyne moved that Mr. Alton Cockrell <br />be appointed to the Board of the Johnston- Lee Community Action Program, Inc. , <br />in place of Mr. Balleau whose term had expired. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it eas unanimously adopted. <br />A report was given of the meeting held between Chairman Harmon, <br />Commissioner Rhyne and the members of the Library Board. The recommendation <br />of that meeting was that the sign on the Library Building read: "Suzanne Reeves <br />Library, A. H. McIver Auditorium of the Lee County Library System", with equal <br />prominence given to all names, that is, that the letters be of the same size. Comm- <br />issioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved that this recommendation be approved and adopted <br />by the Board and the Library Board be directed to implement this change with all due <br />deliberate speed. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne read a statement in support of the <br />Finance Committee's work in preparing the new budget in reply to the editorial <br />which appeared in the Sanford Herald on Friday, June 13, 1980. Chairman K. S. <br />Harmon read a statement which compared the opinions and calculations expressed <br />in the editorial in the Sanford Herald on June 13, 1980, with the actual facts and cal- <br />culations as determined by the Finance Committee. The editorial, among other <br />things, contained a calculation which had a multiplication error in the amount of <br />$200,000.00. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker brought up for discussion, the <br />industrial valuations in the County. Commissioner Wicker expressed dissatisfaction <br />that industrial valuations have not risen in the same proportion as have <br />residential and agricultural valuations. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously adopted, the meeting <br />was adjourned until 7:00 o'clock p. m. , on Monday, June 23, 1980, to re-convene <br />in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the Co ice Building, 200 <br />Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. <br />N <br />CLERK <br />
