EA-YO] 9 PACE 47%
MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
OF
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
FOR
LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA
1161
Monday, June 16th, 1980
The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County
of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioner's Room on the second
floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at
7:00 o'clock p. m. , on Monday, June 16, 1980. Those present were Commissioners
Jack D. Funderburke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, Clyde J. Rhyne, and Gordon
A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. The Chairman declared a
quorum present and the meeting open.
Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following business was
transacted:
The invocation was given by the Reverend David Early of.the First
Baptist Church, Sanford, North Carolina.
The Board next considered the minutes of the regular meeting held
on June 2, 1980, the adjourned regular meeting held, on June 9, 1980, and the adjourned
regular meeting held on June 11, 1980. The minutes of the Adjourned regular meeting
held on June 9, 1980, were corrected to read 10:00 p. m. , rather than a. m. Follow-
ing such correction, Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved that all of said minutes be
approved and ordered recorded. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the
motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted.
Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne reported on road matters. He
advised that SR 1316 (Worthy Road) is No. 35 on the priority list, that the work crews
would scrape the Black's Chapel Road, that hours and shifts of DOT employees are
set out of Raleigh, and that work crews will clean the ditches on Fields Drive in
August, since the size of the work force and amount of equipment allow only one clean
up per year.
The Chairman recognized a group of citizens from the Colon area,
approximately nine in number, who were seeking extension of water lines in the area
of their residences. The Board explained that the available funds for water and sewer
line extensions had been exhausted but the Board would have the Grants Administrator
investigate to determine if state or federal funds were available for such a project.
