60K 9 ?ArE 758 <br />E <br />(2) A 1977 Ford LTD II, 4-door, serial number 7H27H168059; <br />(3) A 1964 Ford F- 100 truck, white, with dog box, serial <br />number F10JN685757. <br />2. The Clerk is authorized to receive in the Board of <br />Commissioners' behalf bids at public auction for the purchase <br />of the described property. <br />3. The public auction will be held on Friday, October 3, 1980, <br />at 12:00 noon, at the Lee County Courthouse. The terms of sale <br />shall be cash. <br />4. The Clerk to the Board shall cause a notice of the public <br />auction to be published in accordance with G. S. 160A-270(b). <br />5. The person making the highest bid shall deposit with the <br />County Finance Officer an amount equal to 5% of the bid. <br />6. The highest bid shall be reported to the Board of Commissioners <br />and must be accepted and confirmed by the Board of Commissioners <br />before the sale will be final. <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it <br />was unanimously adopted. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, duly seconded by <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote, it <br />was RESOLVED to expend the sum of $100. 00 of the Commissioners Fund for adver- <br />tising to boost the tobacco sales in Lee County. <br />The Finance Officer appeared before the Board and presented a list <br />of accounts totalling $15, 566. 23, to the Board and advised the Board that these were <br />accounts generated by the Ambulance Service and for which collection could not be <br />made. The Finance Officer asked that her staff be allowed to classify these accounts <br />as uncollectible and be relieved of any further responsibility for actively trying to effect <br />collection. Upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, the request of the <br />Finance officer was granted and the accounts on the exhibit were declared to be un- <br />collectible and the Finance Officer be relieved from any further responsibility to try <br />to effect collection. The Clerk noted on each sheet of the exhibit that it had been <br />declared uncollectible as a means of identification. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker advised the Board that Congress- <br />man Whitley's representatives would be in the County on the following day for those <br />who desired to discuss matters with them. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne then recognized the Finance Officer, <br />Mrs. Beatrice Fields, and congratulated her upon being chosen the outstanding Finance <br />Officer in the State of North Carolina, for the past year. A resolution which had been <br />prepared, a copy of which is attached hereto, was then read by the Vice-Chairman. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the resolution be adopted. Commissioner <br />Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. The <br />Vice-Chairman presented to Mrs. Fields a framed copy of the resolution. <br />The Board, upon motionof Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, which <br />motion was seconded by Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen and upon a vote duly adopted, <br />RESOLVED to go into Executive Session to discuss a personnel matter. Following the <br />Executive Session, the Executive Session was closed by a of ion and the regular <br />public meeting re-opened. There being no further bu~ness come before the <br />session, it was adjourned, sine die. / - <br />N <br />C LE <br />
