BOA 9 itrr 7840
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners
of the County of Lee has investigated the condition of the
above-described road which is now a part of the system of
roads maintained by the State Highway Commission, and
which is indicated in red on the attached map; and
WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the
services rendered by said road and the traffic demands of
said county, it is deemed necessary that said road be
improved in order to better serve the interests of the
people of this county.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, and the Board
of County Commissioners hereby approve and request that the
State Highway Commission make the following improvements
in the above described road:
Paved
Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote
it was unanimously adopted.
A letter from the Forestwood Park Community Group was presented
to the Board and read at length. The Clerk was directed to send a copy of the
letter to the Highway Division for its consideration.
Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen reported that Miss Betty Rosser of
1411 Hawkins Avenue, Sanford, had reported that recent roadwork by the Highway
Department had caused surface drainage to run upon her lot and she had requested
Commissioner Rhyne to take the matter up with the highway authorities.
Mr. S. T. Westbrook, County Tax Supervisor, appeared before the
Board concerning the abstract form for listing of personal property by business firms
and industries. In discussion about the form, it appeared that the Tax Supervisor had
authority to adopt and use the form without the Board's approval. The Chairman
stated that the Board assumed he would use the new. form unless the Board at some
time should take action disapproving of same.
Mr. Elwin Buchanan appeared before the Board and reviewed the
projects under his supervision. Mr. Buchanan reported that it would be several
days before specifications would be completed covering the water, sewer and streets
in the San-Lee Heights Community Development Project. He requested authority from
the Board to authorize the Chairman to approve the specifications upon completion and
to authorize the advertisement for bids. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved that
such authority be granted. Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne seconded the motion and
upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Mr. Buchanan advised the Board that depending
upon how soon the advertisement for bids was published that they may ask the Chairman
to call a special meeting to consider and accept the bids.
Mrs. Max Matthews, Chairman of the County Planning Board,
appeared before the Board and presented for consideration and approval, the preliminary
plat of the Subdivision known as "Coppermine Hills" in Deep River Township, Lee
County. After discussion and review, Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved that the
preliminary plat be given approval. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the
motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.
Mrs. Max Matthews, Planning Board Chairman, appeared before the
Board and presented the final map of the subdivision of the Johnny Stanley Property
which had been processed under the abbreviated procedure. After discussion and
review, Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved that the final map of the Stanley property
