• ® aooj 9 ~rs~ 79I <br />Requests for budget amendments were presented to the Board, <br />as follows: <br />(a) Amend budget to increase Non-Departmental line item <br />10-660-08 - Unemployment Compensation by $585.00, revenue to be derived from <br />Unappropriated Surplus in the General Fund. <br />(b) Amend Sanitation Department budget to reflect revenue of <br />$12, 500. 00 from (insurance reimbursement) unappropriated surplus to expenditures <br />line item 10-580-17 - Maintenance to Auto. <br />(c) Amend the Capital Outlay Fund of the Lee County School, as <br />follows : <br />1) Appropriate $8, 382. 00 from Fund Balance, <br />Code No. 4910, to Purchase of Vehicles, Code No. 9300-01- <br />551, to authorize use of fund balance to pay.extra cost for <br />additional-size buses. <br />2) Appropriate $3, 780. 00 from Insurance Settlement, <br />Code No. 4840, to Instructional Equipment, Code 9200-01-541 <br />to authorize purchase of band instruments to replace those <br />that were stolen from insurance settlement. <br />3) Appropriate $1, 257. 00 from Tuition paid by out- <br />of-county students, Code No. 4210, to Instructional Equip- <br />ment, Code No. 9200-01-541, to authorize purchase of saw <br />and storage cabinet for use at Floyd Knight School. <br />The budget requests were each separately considered and discussed <br />following which Commissioner Clyde J. Rhynemoved that the budget amendments and <br />each of them be authorized and approved. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded <br />the motion and upon a roll call vote, Commissioners Funderburke, Nielsen, Rhyne, <br />Wicker and Harmon voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />The written request of the Lemon Springs Ruritan Club for tax <br />refund in the amount of $193. 31 was presented to the Board. The Tax Supervisor <br />reported that the property of the club was tax exempt under North Carolina General <br />Statute 105-275(19) except for the percentage rented out. The Tax Supervisor further <br />reported only 3% was rented out and therefore he recommended approval of the refund. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the request for refund of taxes of the <br />Lemon Springs Ruritan Club in the amount of $193. 31 be approved and the appropriate <br />officials be authorized and directed to pay same. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen <br />seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, Commissioners Funderburke, Nielsen, <br />Rhyne, Wicker, and Harmon voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />The letter of Mr. Derrell W. Mullins, Architect, concerning the <br />project to remove the chimney at the Senior Citizens Building, was presented to the <br />Board. No formal action was taken at this time. <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen invited the members to attend the <br />meeting of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners at Pinehurst <br />on December 10, 1980. <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen reported that at the next meeting of <br />the Capital Health System nominating committee they need to appoint a Commissioner, <br />consumer of health services and a provider of health services from Lee County and <br />the members of the Board were asked to consider these positions and be prepared <br />to give recommendations for persons to be considered for these appointments. <br />
