BOOK 22 PAGE 462 <br />U <br />N <br />LEE COUNTY <br />~,istkh re> X~:LdY ~va ~5.:aa? ~ i. *t:_ Y <br />COrnmitted Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />MINUTES FROM THE FINANCE COMMITTEE <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />OCTOBER 20, 2008 <br />The Finance Committee meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, <br />State of North Carolina, convened at 7:30 a.m. in the Gordon Wicker Conference Room, Lee <br />County Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. <br />Committee members present were James C. Kelly, Robert T. Reives, and Linda A. Shook. Also <br />present for the meeting were County Manager John Crumpton, County Attorney K. R. Hoyle, <br />Finance Director Lisa Minter, and Clerk to the Board Gaynell Lee. <br />Finance Committee Chairman Robert Reives called the meeting to order. <br />County Attorney K. R. Hoyle delivered the invocation. <br />Commissioner Kelly moved to approve the Consent Agenda which included a request from <br />the Lee County Board of Education for $37,164.74 to address mold remediation at Lee County <br />High School. The inspection report received from the Lee County Environmental Health <br />Department on September 30, 2008, indicated problems that should be immediately addressed <br />and corrected no later than January 5, 2009. The school system has contacted Cary <br />Reconstruction Co., Inc. to perform the mold remediation in all designated rooms excluding the <br />foreign language and art annex buildings. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Kelly, Reives, and Shook <br />Nay: None <br />Chairman Reives moved the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Committee considered a request from the Lee County Board of Education for funding <br />totaling $656,300 to relocate students and staff from the foreign language building and art <br />annex due to the recent Lee County Environmental Health report. Interim School <br />Superintendent Gary Jackson stated that due to the receipt of the inspection reports generated <br />by the County, the Board of Education feels it is in the best interest to demolish the foreign <br />language building and art annex building and replace those facilities with two mobile classroom <br />pods providing twenty-six (26) classrooms and restrooms.
