~,ooK 9 r„ IF 854. • NOW, THEREFORE, BE AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Chairman of the Lee County Board of Commissioners be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to enter into a contract with the Department of Transportation as may be necessary to effectuate the aforesaid expressed purpose, thereby binding the said County Board of Commissioners to the fulfillment of its obligation incurred under this resolution and to its agreement to pay any amounts that may become due under the agreement on a cost reimbursement basis until said obligations are fully paid. A copy of the contract is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. The statement of Williams & Works, Engineers, for $500.00 for professional services in connection with the engineering cost estimate for Rhyne Drive and McLeod Drive in the Industrial Park, Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved that the statement be approved for payment from the grants funds allocated for project administration. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. The Board recognized Mrs. Betty Godfrey Johnson who spoke on the subject of the easements and property being acquired from her parents for the Sanford-Lee County Airport. • Mr. George McDermott and Mr. Meigs Golden appeared before the Board on behalf of Carolina Trace Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., to request a contract to furnish fire protection in Carolina Trace fire protection service district. The matter was discussed between the Board and the two representatives after which Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved that the County contract with Carolina Trace Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. , for fire protection services in said service district in accordance with the written contract presented at this meeting, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof, and further that the Chairman and Clerk be authorized and directed to execute and deliver said contract for and on behalf of the County. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. The list of taxes imposed through clerical error, noted on sheets dated by month from March, 1980, through November, 1980, were presented to the Board for release of the tax claim. The tax supervisor has received a written request for such release from the taxpayer and has determined in each case that the tax has been imposed through clerical error. Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that in each case listed on the sheets presented by the tax supervisor, copies of which are attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof, that a release be granted from the tax claim and the tax collector be credited with the amount released as by law provided.
