0 BOOK 9 rAL~ 869 0 <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined to the best interest <br />of the citizens of Lee County to prepare a prapplication to the <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to cover <br />the cost for a waterline serving the Deep River School <br />Community, and <br />WHEREAS, the waterline will benefit approximately <br />383 residents and 425 students and staff of the Deep River <br />School, and <br />WHEREAS, the preapplication was presented to the Lee <br />County Board of Commissioners for their review for presentation <br />to HUD, and <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners was <br />made aware that the preapplication will be judged by HUD on a <br />competitive basis against other applications throughout the state, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the preapplication was reviewed by the Board <br />of Commissioners; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br />That the preapplication be submitted to the Department <br />of Housing and Urban Development, and <br />That Elwin J. Buchanan, Community Development Director, <br />is hereby authorized to pursue the preapplication. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next heard Mrs. Thomas Rogers, a resident of Lee County, <br />who lives on the Plank Road. Mrs. Rogers complained about the loss of her Tibetian <br />dog and complained about the enforcement of the dog law in general. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, seconded by Commiss- <br />ioner John E. Dotterer, the Board of Commissioners unanimously resolved to go into <br />Executive Session to discuss a matter concerning potential litigation. Following the <br />discussion of the matters in Executive Session, Commissioner John E. Dotterer <br />moved that its Executive Session be ended and the Board resume its regular open <br />meeting. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />
